Description:
Owen Pallett, a genius artist whose sound is reminiscent of Sufian Stevens and Bon Yvelle, has released his first album in six years with an orchestra! Owen Pallett, who began his career as an artist under the name Final Fantasy and has since garnered attention for his string arrangements on many of Arcades Fire's Grammy Award-winning albums, has been releasing music under his real name since 2009, and has since released a number of albums under the name "Owen Pallett. Since 2009, he has been releasing music under his own name, Owen Pallett, and has arranged for #1 hits by Frank Ocean, Sigur Rós, Taylor Swift, Linkin Park, and many others. He also composed the music for the film "Her," starring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Spike Jonze, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Owen Pallett released his latest album, "Island," on Domino, his first album in six years since 2014's "In Conflict. The album, which opens with dark chords and is almost entirely acoustic, was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the London Contemporary Orchestra, and is the first time Pallett, whose background is in classical music, has produced an album without worrying about whether he could reproduce it on stage. The album is also characterized by the fact that Palette, with its background in classical music, produced the album without worrying about whether or not it could be reproduced on stage for the first time. The opening chords represent the sound of waking up alone on the shore of a strange land, and what follows is a palette that ranges from the colorful sounds of "Heartland" (2010) to the finger-picked guitar sounds that characterized the previous album "In Conflict," which was produced by a three-piece band. The result is a glittering and luscious orchestral album that seems to condense the highlights of Palette's discography.
