An even rarer instrumental ensemble version of a rare Gretry opera! The opera "L'Amant jaloux (The jealous lover)" by Grétry is said to have influenced Mozart, and is a stylish music with a sense of joy similar to "The Marriage of Figaro". It is not often performed, but this album contains a rare instrumental ensemble arrangement of the work. Written for traverso, oboe, violin, viola, and basso continuo, this arrangement was discovered in the Biblioteca Estense di Modena in Modena, and it is unknown who wrote it. It is believed to have been written in 1778, the year Grétry composed the opera. It is performed by the Canadian ancient instrument ensemble Notturna. King International
