Sacchai Curtis, brother of the Curtis Brothers, who leads the forefront of Latin jazz, releases an album under his own name! Afro-Cuban jazz, with Mario Bausa as its ancestor. According to Sakkai, there are two major schools of jazz, which are like two sides of the same coin. One is "instrumental mambo jazz," named by Eddie Palmieri. The first is "instrumental mambo jazz," named by Eddie Palmieri after Mario Bauza and Machito, and represented by Bebo Valdez, Tito Puente, Perutin, and Palmieri. On the other hand, the other "Cubap" can be described as bebop works with Afro-Cuban elements added mainly to the rhythm section. The rich roots of Afro-Cuban jazz are chewed over and refreshed with tight ensemble playing and elegant improvisation, making this one of the best Latin jazz releases in recent years.
