A New Impact of Neo-Soul Silas Short releases his debut album "LUSHLAND" on Stones Throw! Born and raised in a musical family in Milwaukee, a suburb of Chicago, the birthplace of soul music, Silas Short has been honing his singing and instrumental skills since childhood, when he joined a local gospel band with his father and brothers. After releasing his debut EP "Drawing" in 2021, Silas relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles in search of new possibilities and began work on this album. His debut album LUSHLAND is packed with soulful songs based on the R&B of the '80s and '90s. It reflects his childhood experience in a gospel band, as well as his strong musical roots influenced by hip-hop, funk, and neo-soul.Reminiscent of royal neo-soul from the likes of D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, the album features a host of artists including the legendary James Poyser, a member of The Roots and Soulquarians (Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Ms. Lauryn Hill), Ryan James Carr (Usher, Cordae), Luke Titus (Kiefer), and Peanut Butter Wolf. A remix track by Karriem Riggins will also be released in April. He is also currently receiving attention for his cover of the song "My Conversation," which was featured in the film "A Real Pain" (BAFTA & Golden Globe Award winner and Academy Award nominee).
