Description:

Jazz guitarist Amancio D'Silva's album Reflections (The Romantic Guitar Of Amancio D'Silva) is being reissued on limited edition clear vinyl for the first time since its release in 1971. Long a favorite among collectors and connoisseurs, the original vinyl currently retails for over 350 pounds. This new edition was mastered at Abbey Road Studios using high-resolution 24bit/192kHz audio files copied directly from the original analog master tapes. recorded in May 1970, "Reflections" was the first British released as part of the Lansdowne Series, supervised by the influential Dennis Preston, one of the first independent record producers, and engineered by Adrian Kerridge. The 12 instrumental tracks include titles by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, and Hoagy Carmichael, as well as originals by the three talented arrangers on the album, David Mack, Stan Tracy, and Leon Young. 1936 Born in Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1949, Amancio DeSilva's career as a musician began by playing in hotels, restaurants, and on Bollywood movie soundtracks In early 1967, Amancio, his Irish-born wife Joyce, and their young family moved to England, where their trip was paid for in part by Amancio selling Gibson acoustic guitars. Amancio found a job gigging at The Prospect of Whitby, a pub in Wapping, east London, but supplemented his income by cleaning toilets in the mornings before playing for jazz fans at night.Later, through the introduction of Dennis Preston, he began collaborating with some of the most notable figures on the British jazz scene of the late 60s and early 70s, including Joe Harriott, Michael Garrick, Don Rendell, Ian Kerr, Dave Green, and Brian Spring. He has since gone on to collaborate with some of the most notable figures of the late 60s and early 70s British jazz scene. On this album, one can enjoy Amancio's delicate touch and pure tone. He later went on to work for Selmer Guitars (acquired by the aforementioned Gibson owner in the early 70s), designing pickups and amplifiers for their guitars.
