JAZZ Q, one of the most important bands in the Czech Rock/Jazz scene in the 70's, was originally known as JAZZ Q PRAHA, which had been active since the 60's, and continued to be active despite the severe political repression along with THE PLASTIC PEOPLE OF THE UNIVERSE. The '84 album "HVEZDON", released on Supraphon label, has been newly remastered and reissued with an additional bonus disc by GAD Records in Poland for the expanded edition in 2008! The band has undergone another member change since the last album "HODOKVAS", with Vladimir Padrunek (b), Pavel Trnavsky (drs/perc), and Jiri Hrubes (perc) leaving the band and being replaced by Premysl Faukner(b), who also played on the '79 album "ZVESTI", has returned to the group, and Pavol Kozma(drs) has also joined the quartet.The opening number 'Trhanec', with its bouncing bass, synths and guitars, and a drum solo in the second half, could be considered the band's calling card, while 'Silvestr Na Bastirne', with its percussive bongo approach and fluent, cool synths, is even more exotic than the previous album. The percussive approach with bongos and the cool synth tone flowing fluently give an exotic impression on "Silvestr Na Bastirne", etc. This is an impressive album with more variety than the previous album, but with more clearly contoured melody lines. Unfortunately, the band disbanded after the release of this album, but it was a very cutting-edge work in the Czechoslovakian fusion scene at the time, and it is truly a work that shows the skill of the leader Martin Kratochvil! The master was newly remastered in '20 from the original master tape.The bonus disc, Disc 2, includes 'Hvezdon (Full Version)''Trhanec (Early Version)''Hmla Snov' from the recording sessions for this album, a film score made between '79 and '82, ' Hmla Snov''Rozepre''Dejvicke Blues'' and 'Odkaz' from unreleased studio material.
