Koji Ezaki transcends the boundaries of a mere recorder player to present a world of expansive musical expression. He has finally released a recording of Handel’s Sonatas for Recorder! Koji Ezaki graduated from the Early Music Department at Toho Gakuen School of Music, where he studied recorder under Kazuo Hanaoka, Baroque oboe under Masafumi Honma, and Baroque bassoon under Kiyotaka Dosaka. He won second prize at the 10th Early Music Competition and, as a member of “La Fontaine,” received the highest honor in the ensemble category at the 11th edition of the same competition. In 2000, he won second place and the Audience Award in the ensemble category at the Bruges International Competition. He has participated in numerous CD recordings and appeared on television and radio. In 2010, he was accepted as a performing member of Cirque du Soleil; through his wide-ranging activities that transcend conventional boundaries, he is carving out his own unique world. Ezaki’s playing perfectly complements Handel’s music—at times flowing, at times intricate—fully expressing the pieces’ charm.
