The works included are Poulenc's Flute Sonata, Fauré's Fantasy, Enescu's Cantabile and Presto, Tufanel's Fantasy on "The Magic Bullet", and a flute concerto by Naotada Otaka (arranged by Junchu Otaka)! The album "Colors" contains the repertoire that has been his favorite and strongest in his long performing career. The highlight is Naotada Otaka's Flute Concerto! Auer's masterpiece combines romantic expression, brilliant virtuosity, and sensuous sound, and is performed with the colorful tones of a virtuoso of the highest caliber of our time, along with his highly trusted pianist Yoshiko Sawaki. ＜Walter Auer (flute) was born in 1971 in Villach, Austria.Since 2003, he has been principal flute of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. He studied at the Carinthian State Conservatory with Johannes von Kalkreus, at the Mozarteum University of Music in Salzburg with Michael Martin Kofler, and as a scholarship student at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic with Andreas Blau. As a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic, he has performed with Daniel Barenboim, Gustavo Dudamel, and Rachman Shani at the Salzburg Mozart Festival. He has also performed in recital with Lorenzo Gossi and Yoshiko Sawaki for a long time. He has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from 2012 to 2018, and has also been a visiting professor at Shobi Gakuen University and Kobe College. In 2022, he was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Arts by the President of Austria.＜Yoshiko Sawaki (Piano) graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with a first prize in the piano department and a unanimous first prize in the chamber music department, while simultaneously receiving a high diploma in the écriture department. She won the third prize at the Albert Roussel International Competition in Bulgaria in 2002, and was a finalist at the Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition the following year. He has participated as the official pianist of the PMF (Pacific Music Festival Sapporo) for four years, and has performed with members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
