Description:

Akiko Suwanai's Paganini live in 1990! Also of note is the 1987 recording by the inimitable Stadrel! The International Tchaikovsky Competition was founded in 1958 during the era of the former Soviet Union, and in 1966 it became the world's first and only competition in which the four categories of piano, violin, cello, and voice were performed simultaneously. The two winners of the violin section, Sergei Stadler of the 7th competition (1982) and Akiko Suwanai of the 9th competition (1990), were selected from the vast amount of sound files stored in Melodiya to look back on the historical performances of the winners of the competition. Akiko Suwanai created a sensation by winning the 9th Paganini Competition at the age of 18, the youngest ever winner at that time. Sergey Stadler (1962-) won the first prize at the 7th competition in 1982, along with Victoria Mullova.Although Stadler has been active in conducting and has made great achievements in education, including serving as director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory (Leningrad Conservatory), his recordings as a violinist are not as extensive as his achievements as a conductor, so this reissue of his three concerto works is a welcome addition. The reissue of his performances of the three concerto works is a welcome addition to the collection. The back inlay reads "Recorded live on July 4th, 1990 at Grand Hall Moscow Conservatory (Winners concert of the IX International Tchaikovsky Competition)" based on the information on the master tape stored at the site. However, based on the information on the master tape stored at the site, it seems that this is not a "winners concert" but a live performance of the "final of the competition". Please understand this in advance. Tokyo M-Plus
