Argentine conductor Carlos Païta, who was fascinated by Furtwängler, and whose interpretations and unparalleled sound have earned him an enthusiastic following among some enthusiasts, passed away at the end of 2015 at the age of 83, and we can no longer expect to hear new recordings from him. However, the 1976 recording of Mahler's "Titan" (recorded in 1976) on the Lodia label, which he founded in Switzerland, has been reissued on HQCD by Obsession. The HQCD reissue of the recording offers a full appreciation of the dynamic and dramatic production, and the flood of sound with explosive force that only Païta can produce, in a sound quality greatly improved by the HQCD conversion.
