Hansjörg Angeler (1955-) is one of Austria's leading horn players and conductors, with a unique interpretation of the horn and natural horn on a wide range of instruments, including hunting horn. Angela was born in Tyrol. He studied at the Tyrol Conservatory in Innsbruck and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where he also studied with the renowned horn player Hermann Baumann, and from 1976 to 1980 was a horn player in the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra, after which he became a professor at the Tyrol Conservatory and the Mozarteum University. He also taught at the Nuremberg University of Music, where he trained the next generation of horn players, and performed with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and Camerata Salzburg, earning an international reputation as a soloist on horn and natural horn. In addition, contemporary composers such as Eder and Kroll have written works for him, and these recordings are highly acclaimed. He has made numerous recordings, most notably Mozart's Horn Concerto, which he recorded in 2006 and for which he received the "Pasticcio Award" from the Austrian Radio Association. An accomplished conductor, he became principal conductor of the Salzburg Wind Philharmonic in 2002 and has since developed it into one of the world's leading symphonic wind orchestras, with impressive concerts and successful recordings. This "The Art of Hansjörg Angeler" presents a diverse repertoire from his many recordings. From solo to ensemble, the art of horn playing is experienced in an extremely engaging way. (Naxos Japan)
