Description:

I am amazed by the natural transition from Bach to Bartók. He effortlessly transcends the 200-year gap between the two composers. That said, his approach to each composer’s stylistic sensibilities is spot-on. It is a combination of sincere, intellectual sensibility and technical skill. Yet there is no pretension or ambition here; precisely because the performance is so effortlessly natural, the listener is drawn into that world before they even realize it. It is only afterward that one realizes this is the very embodiment of a performer for a new era. Shinichiro Ikebe (Composer) Profile Began playing the violin at age 3. Graduated from the High School Affiliated with the Tokyo University of the Arts and the Faculty of Music at the same university; recipient of the Ataka Prize, the Acanthus Prize, and the Doseikai Prize. Completed a master’s program at the Conservatoire de Lausanne in Switzerland. Completed the IAD course at the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. He has studied under Masumi Yamashita, Habib Kayaleh, Shizuko Ishii, Kazuki Sawa, Gérard Poulet, Oleg Krysa, Pierre Amoyal, and Yair Kres. He was a scholarship recipient of the ROHM Music Foundation and the Meiji Yasuda Quality of Life Scholarship. First Prize at the 11th Toshiya Eto Violin Competition. First Prize and the Audience Award (Iwaya Prize), among other honors, at the 78th Japan Music Competition. First Prize and the Best Performance Award for the Commissioned Piece at the 2nd RNCM Manchester International Violin Competition. Won Second Prize at the 12th Carl Flesch International Violin Competition. Has performed with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jules Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestras in Japan and abroad. She has also given recitals not only in Japan but also in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Serbia, South Korea, China, and other countries. In 2016, she changed her stage name from “Ami Oike” to “Ami Ito.” She released CDs titled “French Romanticism” in 2014 and “A” in 2016.
