(Shingo Okudaira)Recorded live at Shinjuku Pit Inn, the hall of fame of jazz live in Japan, Shingo Okudaira's "THE BIG BROTHER" is a live album. Dedicated to his New York boss, Carlos Garnett, a saxophonist from Panama who played with Miles Davis and Norman Connors in the 70's, Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, and others. After playing with Miles Davis, Norman Connors, and others in the 70's, he left the scene due to depression, but returned in 1991. He was a regular member of the band when it was revived, and he passed away in his hometown in 2023 at the age of 85. In this live recording, the members play freely and uninhibitedly, and at the same time, they engage in intimate conversations based on the band's ensemble. Along with power and technique, Shingo Okudaira's drumming conveys his "singing heart" as a drummer.The "singing spirit" of the audience was extremely pleasant. The spirit of the event must have reached Carlos Garnett in heaven.
