Mahler by KOBAKEN, who is deepening his maturity. The series of session recordings by Kenichiro Kobayashi and the London Philharmonic Orchestra continued with the Tchaikovsky Symphonies in 2013 and the Russian works in 2005, with the last recording, "Symphonie fantastique," attracting a great deal of attention. This time, they will be performing Mahler, one of Kovakian's most beloved repertoire. This recording of "No. 5" is the culmination of their many years together. The most impressive thing about this recording is the leisurely tempo. The way the orchestra bites into each note conveys a sense of grandeur and scale, as if to convey the composer's deep and painful feelings toward the piece. The London Philharmonic Orchestra, on the other hand, responded with a heavyweight sound with high precision in all sections. The slow movement, which is sung with great energy, is a notable highlight of the performance. This is a masterful recording that vividly captures the sound that resonated throughout the spacious Abbey Road Studios. (C)RS
