As the new Chief Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Lazarev has started a project to perform all Prokofiev's works for the next three years. We are pleased to release the live performance of the first concert of this project! Lazarev leads the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra with a keen sense of sharpness unique to a Russian, drawing the audience into the world of Prokofiev with his high level of concentration and spirituality. Lazarev demanded especially high ensemble skills from the strings. The rich and precise sound of the strings is impressive. Symphony No. 7, coupled with the "Classical Symphony," the most popular and familiar of Prokofiev's symphonies, is a mysterious and beautiful secret work with its harp melody and unique melodic interplay between wind and string instruments. After the four movements of the Seventh Symphony, Prokofiev's own revised version of the fourth movement, the other concluding movement, is also included in this special version! This is probably one of the most essential items for those who know Prokofiev.
