This box contains all of Johanna Marzi's recordings for EMI, newly remastered in 2022 from the original master tapes, which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of her birth in 2024. She made her debut at the age of 13 and won a prize at the Geneva International Music Competition in 1947. Died of cancer in Glarus, Switzerland, on August 13, 1979, at the age of 54. A cult violinist whose recordings are few and far between, it was unfortunate that events passed unnoticed after her untimely death. Nor did her career predict her posthumous idolization. Walter Legg signed a recording contract for Columbia Records (EMI). Her artistry was color expression, expressed with such precision and discretion that a phrase could be small but a rich world. Bach, in fact, has achieved iconic status. She deploys the solid rhythms and sparkling tones that characterize all her recordings, balanced and free of any half-baked interpretations.However, her contract was not renewed after Walter Legg signed Oistrakh and Kogan. Her historic recordings of Bach's sonatas and partitas and her masterful interpretations of Schubert's complete works for violin and piano, along with the concerto disc, became a legacy whose rarity drove prices skyward. Now, newly remastered from the original master tapes at 24bit/192kHz by Art & Son Studio in 2022, the original masters are being released at a special price by Warner Classics, the custodian of the original masters. Due to the nature of imported products, there may be cases where the product (including jacket, outer vinyl, outer box, case, enclosures, etc.) may have minor scratches, folds, scuffs, dents, tears, stains, crushed corners, scratches on the disc surface that do not affect playback, dirt, image differences, individual differences, etc. at the time of arrival.
