He signed a new record deal with RCA, met Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop, became a father, wrote the song "Kooks" to show his fatherly pride, played his first shows in June with Mick Ronson, Woody Woodmansey, and Trevor Boulder, the band that would later be named the Spiders from Mars, and recorded the classic album HUNKY DORY.
