Feldman's late masterpiece 《For John Cage》is a masterpiece from Feldman's late period. The premiere was performed with Paul Zukowski on violin and Aki Takahashi on piano. The disc contains only one track, and a serene sound space is maintained consistently throughout the 71-plus minutes of performance. A ray of light from the violin elongates the delicate chords of the piano. At times, the violin and piano seem to branch out and move separately, but then they interlock with each other and melt back into the same chord. The lyricism that emanates from the music is superb, even though it is devoid of any romantic dramatics. Carlson on violin and Kalis on piano gave excellent performances, capturing Feldman's intentions and poetics. Tobu Land System
