The complete recording of Jefte, a tragedy by Hungarian old music prodigy Jiří Vázsěj Montecler! Jiří Vázséj, the wunderkind of the Hungarian old music world who has been enriching Glossa's French Baroque recordings on behalf of Hervé Nicquet, and the Orfeo Orchestra & Purcell Choir, have continued their recording activities at a high pace after moving to Glossa, and are now moving forward with their French Baroque project. Baroque project. The latest release is an opera by Michel Pignollet de Monteclair (1667-1737), a French Baroque musician who also played bass de violon in the orchestra of the Paris Opera. This rare complete recording of the tragedy "Jephthae," based on the biblical story of Jephthah, is presented here with the superb singing of Chantal Santon-Jeffrey and others, and the lively sound of the period orchestra, with the virtuoso Simon Standage as concert master.
