Recognized by Walter for his talent, Lawrence Foster made his debut as a conductor in 1960, and became a household name when he was appointed music director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra in 1971. A master craftsman, Foster is highly regarded as a conductor of concertos and operas, and his releases on the PENTATONE label include Arabella Miho Steinbacher's Violin Masterpieces Played by Arabella (PTC5186536/KKC5655), Bruch & Korngold's Violin The concerto (PTC5186503) and the opera "The House of Usher" (PTC5186451) by Ghetti are also well performed.
