Description:
The Octet was created to resemble Beethoven's Seventh Quartet at the request of the client, a masterful performer with a rich romantic lyricism. The number of movements, arrangement of movements, tonal relationships, instrumentation, etc., are very similar except for a few differences, but it is a chamber music work refined with Schubert's unique purity. This is the second recording by the Consortium Classicum led by Dieter Klecker, who passed away last year in 2011. The tempo is much slower than the first recording (CPO: 1983), and the romantic lyricism and joyfulness are fully utilized in this masterful performance. UNIVERSAL MUSIC/IMS
