Now Norway's leading violinist, Kraggerud arranges Goldberg for this new work by Henning Kraggerud (1973-) and the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, of which he is artistic director. On their previous album, "Between the Seasons" (Simax PSC1356), the orchestra alternated between Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" and Kraggerud's own compositions, creating a "new musical space". The new album combines a chamber orchestral version of Bach's "Golteberg Variations" in a new arrangement with variations composed by Klugerud. Music always tells a story. Music always tells a story, even absolute music like the "Goltberg Variations. Performance can be defined as telling a story" (Henning Kluggerud). For the "Golteberg Variations," Kraggerud has collaborated with the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra's Bernd Siemen-Lund on the arrangement.The work was based on Bach's "All notes and intervals are Bach's," and the first draft, in which Bach himself made modifications, was used as the basis for the work, without adding notes or simplifying passages as in other arrangements. The "Topelius Variations" was commissioned by the Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra. Inspired by the time and works of Finland's Sakris Topelius (1818-1898), who wrote essays, poems, and fairy tales, he composed the piece in the style of Grieg's "From the Time of Holbea. It is written in the style of Grieg's "From the Time of Holbea," using two subjects of different moods and their tensions to drive the music forward. King International
