Bing & Ruth, one of New York's finest chamber ensembles, has released a new album on the renowned British label 4AD! The soundscapes are as astonishing as if Tim Hecker and Nils Frahm had met! Bing & Ruth is led by David Moore, a Kansas pianist and graduate of the New York School of Jazz and the New School for Contemporary Music. The group's roster includes 11 artists on their debut release "City Lake," released on Brooklyn's up-and-coming electronic label RVNG Intl. The Golden Age," which Pitchfork called "one of the best left-field releases of the year. No Home of the Mind" was recorded in two days, with a year of writing, careful rehearsal, and a minimum number of takes.While one-take recording has become the standard in recent years to keep costs down, this album adopts a traditional session style. The quality of the percussive piano played along with the smooth woodwinds, the chirping tape delays, and the jangling upright bass line create an overwhelming sense of transcendence, giving new possibilities to the traditional "classical sound.
