Produced by Trevor Horn Simple Minds released their 8th album in May 1989, recorded in Scotland from 1988 to 1989. While maintaining the arena rock sound that the band is known for, this important album was influenced by a change in band members, and the band shifted from a soul-based sound to a more Celtic/folk sound. The lyrics also became more political, expanding the themes to include the Irish issues addressed in "Troubles" and the apartheid issues of Nelson Mandela/Steven Biko, among others. It was their fourth #1 UK album, and the preceding single "Belfast Child" also reached #1 in the UK. Remastered by Andrew Walters of Abbey Road Studios.
