Southside Movement and Jackie Ross - two groups associated with Chicago, probably produced in the early 1980's, and released on a very rare jacketless promo(?) LP! The world's first reissue of this extremely rare jacketless promo (?) LP from the early 1980s! The unknown gem of groovy soul, "You Are The One That I Need," is simply the best! Includes additional previously unreleased tracks from the Southside Movement, which was released on CD by P Vine in 1991! Southside Movement was a Chicago funk band that released three albums between 1973 and 1975 on the Wand and 20th Century labels. Jackie Ross (born in St. Louis), another Chicago female singer who has done quite a bit of work for Chess and Brunswick. The two artists have reissued their joint album (the equivalent of a six-song mini-album), produced by the talented Chicago producer James Van Lear, with the addition of previously unreleased songs from Southside Movement and new artwork.The tropical/Brazilian-flavored groovy soul tune "You Are The One That I Need" is just a super killer!　The catchy horn riff is a pleasantly light sound, and Jackie Ross's extended voice brings a wonderful uplifting feeling to this impeccable hidden gem! Other tracks include the sticky slow funk "Cold Hearted Woman," the horn-driven funk instrumental "Open Air," and a previously unreleased track from the Southside Movement.
