It vividly captures the rich tone of the cello resonating in the serene space, as well as the tension and even the artist’s breathing—elements unique to a live performance. Haruma Sato gained international attention in 2019 when he became the first Japanese musician to win first prize in the cello category at the Munich International Music Competition. With a distinguished record of awards, including first prize at the Lutosławski International Cello Competition, he is active both in Japan and abroad. The *Suite for Unaccompanied Cello* is a special repertoire that cellists continue to engage with throughout their careers, and it is one of the works that most vividly reflects a performer’s musicality and interpretation.
