Description:

Hartmann Schedel (1440-1514) was a German Renaissance historian from Nuremberg. He was one of the most important erudite scholars of his time, as well as a physician and humanitarian, and is credited as one of the first cartographers to use the printing press. He was also a collector of books, art, and music, which he compiled into some 600 volumes that have been of great use in improving people's knowledge. This "Carmina Predulcia" is one of the songbooks compiled by Schedel. Most of the songs are by unknown composers, but some of them include names such as Dufay, which gives us an idea of what songs were popular during this period. It is performed by the ancient music ensemble "Almara," led by Elisabeth Pavelke, who studied at the Schola Cantorum Basel. Naxos Japan
