The Doors

Description:

The Doors' secret live performance at the height of their popularity is now available on Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series! The Doors, with legendary vocalist Jim Morrison's philosophical and literary lyrics and jazz-infused pop songs, suddenly made their debut hit in 1967 and became a rock band that embodied the counterculture. Jim's love of rebellion, disorder, and drugs led to his disappearance in Paris in 1971, along with gossip, and from their brief four years of activity, the Doors have occasionally released unreleased live shows that are still talked about today. However, most of them were from 1968 to 1970, and there were no live recordings of the Doors in 1967, the year of their debut. Here, at long last, are the live recordings of two shows from the legendary 1967 three-night run at Winterland, a sacred place for West Coast rock. The recordings were made by the people involved at the venue, and include cuts and conversations between the band and staff. Although some hissing noise can be heard, the sound image is close to that of a guitar, and the sound quality is very stable. This is a rare and rare recording of the Doors at the peak of their career, before Jim became addicted to drugs and at the peak of his career as a performer. The first song, "Backdoor Man," was performed on the first day, December 26, with Jim in a heightened state of excitement and insanity, and during the intro to the second song, "Break on Through," he sings, "You guys know what you're doing! Jim sang during the intro of the second song, "Break on Through". The audience responded to Jim's calls for improvisation during the song, and the place gradually grew hotter and hotter. Jim's magic on stage, as if he were a shaman manipulating the vibrations that can only be created in such a live performance, can only be felt realistically in an uncensored live performance like this. There is also a rare Muddy Waters medley with keyboardist Ray Manzarek on vocals, and a rare song from the December 28 show, "You're Lost Little Girl". As a bonus, two additional live songs from "The Jonathan Winters Show," which was aired on TV on the middle day, December 27 (recorded December 4), are included. During the broadcast, the Doors themselves were on stage at Winterland, and the performance is legendary in that they interrupted the show and put the TV on stage to watch the broadcast. Japanese commentary on the circumstances of the time, episodes, song titles, etc. are included on the inside cover.
