Formed in 2003 in Riga, the capital of Latvia, Auri is an ethno-trance group with a unique style that skillfully fuses ancient, medieval, and modern elements in a unique composition of six bagpipe players, three bungas (drums made from a single giant trunk in the Baltic area) players, a wooden flute player, and an electric cello/electric bass player. Auri is an ethno-trance group with a unique style that combines ancient, medieval, and modern elements with Latvian folk music and traditional folk music from around the world. The album "SENCU BALSIS / VOICES OF THE ANCESTORS" released in 2020 features Batzorig Vaanchig (throat singing/matouqin), a well-known member of the internationally popular Mongolian folk band "Husgutun," and German multi-instrumentalist Albert Albin (aka "Albin"), who has been playing with the band for many years. ), German multi-instrumentalist Albin Paulus (yodel/mouth harp/bagpipe/flute), Norwegian Sami artist Kai Somby (yoke), and Edgars Lipors (traditional Latvian string instrument: quakre/vocals).
