The long-awaited new recording of the unknown 17th-century southern French composer, Gautier, reveals his true value. During the reign of Louis XIV, the Sun King, Pierre Gautier, a composer from Marseilles in the south of France, was exceptionally authorized to compose French operas by Lully, the royal music commissioner, who did not allow others to compose dramatic music with French scripts. He was called "the Gautier of Marseilles". He died in a maritime accident at Sète in the south of France, but his works were highly acclaimed, and in 1707 (more than 10 years after his death), the Royal Press published a collection of his suites shown on this disc. The suite shown on this disc was published by the Royal Press in 1707 (more than 10 years after his death). Although Marseille was located near Italy by sea, the suite is a series of dances and descriptive and symbolic theme music with the refined sound of French style. Four young Polish virtuosos, many of whom are internationally acclaimed instrumentalists, have recorded all the pieces with sensitive interpretation, offering the pleasure of experiencing this important collection, which has not been systematically recorded for more than a quarter of a century.This is a reliable release from Ambronay, a label based on an ancient music festival in the south of France, with engineering by Christophe Fronmen, an engineer who has made many important ancient instrument recordings for ALPHA, Aeolus, ACCENT, and others.
