This is a collection of Sibelius violin concertos and pieces by Canadian virtuoso violinist James Ehnes, who has recorded numerous works for the CHANDOS label and others. Internationally acclaimed Ehnes gives an emotionally rich performance of Sibelius' only violin concerto, "Six Humoresques," and other works by Sibelius, who himself aspired to be a violinist, as well as "Six Humoresques," which skillfully weaves in Scandinavian folk songs. She is backed by Edward Gardner and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom she has performed works by Bartók, Nielsen, and Janácek.
