Description:

The Basque National Orchestra, led by Trevino, has been a topic of conversation for its selection of masterpieces, especially "Bolero" from the previous album, and for its local tone, which is not overly refined but retains a rough, rough quality. This is the second collection of Ravel's works by the Basque National Orchestra led by Trevino. This time, the program centered on "Ma mère roi" is performed with dazzling euphoria. Although the suite version of this work is usually performed more often, Trevino performed the entire ballet version, which is more in tune with the story and more exquisite. The performance is more precise and in line with the story, and the other works, including the other pieces, sound even more precise than in the previous performance. The highlight is the orchestral version of "Mouthpiece" by Pierre Boulez. This was originally a work for two pianos and five hands, and is a short piece of only 15 bars, with a playing time of about two minutes. It was written as an insert for a collection of poems called "Vardar's Poems" by Richard Canudes, in which three independent melodies are played individually and intertwine with each other, and finally all converge on the melody at the beginning of the piece. It was performed only once during Ravel's lifetime, and has since been forgotten. The work was revived by none other than Boulez, who also arranged it into an orchestral version. The melodies are more prominent than in the piano version, and the avant-garde aspect of the work is emphasized, making the piece very memorable to the ear. Naxos Japan
