Description:
Vasileva was born into a Bulgarian musical family in Hof, Bavaria. Vasileva studied violin from an early age, but one summer while staying in Bulgaria, she was introduced to percussion and began to learn it at the same time. After studying with Peter Zadlo in Munich, she won various competitions and today is one of the most popular solo percussionists in Germany. In this album, her first since her debut, she presents a diverse selection of works by composers from various countries, based on the concept of telling stories through music that she has created herself. The album includes "Samba" by Argentine guitarist Guillot Espel, whose jazz incorporates elements of folklore (unlike Brazil's Samba, Argentina's Zamba is graceful), "Sailing for Philharmonia" by Eric Samu, principal percussionist of the Orchestre de Paris and known for his compositions and arrangements, and "Sailing for Philharmonia" by the composer of the "Samba" album, who is also the principal percussionist of the Orchestre de Paris. Sailing for Philharmonic Orchestra," and other relatively well-known works in the percussion repertoire. Keiko Abe's "Tearful Pavane" is a beautiful variation on the theme of Dowland's famous "Lacrimée or Seven Tears," which is highly acclaimed worldwide as a leading marimba player.Also noteworthy are Vasileva's quintet, formed in 2015, and Brazilian guitarist Lucas Campara Diniz, who plays with her in perfect harmony.
