Combining darkness, sensuality, and surrealism, their music captivates audiences with a growling, aggressive intensity—qualities that are expressed more vividly than ever on *Perfecth*. *Perfecth* is an album created based on a philosophy akin to the traditional Japanese art of “kintsugi.” Kintsugi involves repairing cracked or chipped pottery by adorning the seams with gold. At its core lies the philosophy of not merely restoring what has been broken to its original state, but transforming it—including its scars and chips—into a new form of beauty. *Perfecth* is also a work that contemplates this “beauty born precisely from what is broken.” The reason this album could only have been created at this very moment is none other than the fact that Josh Homme, Troy Van Ruiten, Michael Schumann, Dean Fertita, and John Theodore have undergone a major evolution as a band and, after much struggle, have reached a place of true artistic maturity. The nine tracks on the album depict various forms of love—from family and friends to the irreplaceable and the insignificant, as suggested by “Insignificant Other.” It is a love that can be so overwhelming it makes even survival difficult, yet at the same time, it is a love that pieces a shattered heart back together again. Born from sessions held in various locations from New Orleans to Los Angeles, *Perfecth* is a bold, boundary-defying work—rich in nuance, unsettling yet gentle, and with a strangely captivating sound. With this album, Queens of the Stone Age have woven together the countless jagged fragments they’ve accumulated throughout their career into a single cohesive form. Josh Homme explains: “Each song sounds like it comes from a completely different world. But that’s intentional. It’s because I’m trying to weave together emotions surrounding love, desire, foolishness, and the ‘wisdom’ that comes as a gift from all those experiences.” Regarding the reason behind the title *Perfecth*, Homme explains: “‘Perfect’—there’s no such thing. So I broke the word apart and made it ‘Perfecth.’ I thought that spelling was more fitting for a word that has never really felt right to begin with. Nothing in this world is perfect. But it seems like everything is ‘perfecth’ in its own way. When you’re part of a group like a band, this title feels somewhat humorous. But when you’re alone, it’s not funny at all.”
