Description:

The Beethoven Sonata Ticles by Medjieva, a project commemorating the 5th anniversary of the Wakabayashi Studio, has finally begun. Irina Medjieva, a Russian-born pianist who has been based in Japan and celebrated the 10th anniversary of her concert debut in Japan in 2007, has finally started recording the Beethoven Sonatas. Beethoven's Piano Sonatas, which she has been recording for the past five years. For the past five years, she has been performing "Beethoven and Schubert" as one of her themes, giving a series of concerts at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall (2002/03), recitals in various places in Japan, a recital series at Aoyama Baroque Salle (Kyoto) (2006- ), and a recital series at Asahi She has also performed the complete Beethoven piano sonatas at the Asahi Culture in Shinjuku, Tokyo (2008-), and has recorded Beethoven's works such as No. 14 "Moonlight", No. 17 "The Tempest", No. 23 "The Passion", No. 24 "The Fever", No. 24 "The Sorrow", No. 25 "The Sorrow", No. 16 "The Sorrow", No. 16 "The Sorrow", and No. 17 "The Sorrow". In her previous recordings of Beethoven, Medjieva has received high acclaim for her earnest performances of No. 14 "Moonlight", No. 17 "Tempest", No. 23 "Passion", No. 28, No. 30, No. 31, and others. This first set of new Zycles recordings is a 2-CD set featuring seven sonatas from the early and middle periods (all recorded for the first time). The performance, which is carried by a unique sensibility that makes full use of vivid technique, a variety of tones and sounds, and a touch that combines power and delicacy, conveys above all the charm of the work in a straightforward manner, reminding us anew of the splendor and greatness of Beethoven's music. This is an excellent performance filled with charm that will make you want to listen to it over and over again. [Comment courtesy of Wakabayashi Studio].
