The second STRATA source discovery project. This is the second volume of STRATA's "Fusion Soul" project, featuring the completely unreleased recordings of Sam Sanders, a Detroit heavyweight, who is highly regarded as an outstanding saxophonist in the post-bop scene! In Detroit, Sam Sanders was a highly regarded saxophonist who supported the post-bop scene. His only remaining album, "The Gift Of Love" (1983), has been well received in the spiritual jazz scene for its blackness. However, the previously unreleased recordings from 1980 that have been unearthed this time are far beyond expectations. Featuring vocals on most of the songs, the music is a high-dimensional fusion of jazz, fusion, soul, and funk, reminiscent of Oneness of Juju. The album also includes "Inner City Player," which could be called spiritual fusion soul, the melancholic "Love's Gain" sung by a male vocalist, and a beautiful song with Sanders' saxophone that is heartbreakingly beautiful. Sanders' saxophone on the hauntingly beautiful "Summer Mist," and many more.The modern musicality that appeals to listeners of jazz and rare groove as well as soul and funk is truly a cultural legacy born of Detroit, the mecca of mixed music.
