The album "Boys featuring SHUN" will be released by Studio Tribe Records. The album commemorates the graduation of Shun Ishiwaka (Ds) from the University of the Arts, and features the members of the ongoing trio of Akira Ishii (Pf) and Hideaki Kanazawa (B), along with guest musicians who have often performed together and whose talent is highly acclaimed by the public. The trio features trumpeter Shinpei Ruike, who is said to be the most difficult to book today because of his outstanding tone and expressiveness; up-and-coming guitarist Mei Inoue, who straddles the boundaries between blues, rock, and jazz; and pianist Yusei Takahashi, who is only 20 years old, but has a reputation for imbuing each note with the sound of his own soul. What emanates from these musicians is not just their youthfulness. They have provided an opportunity to hear the collective talent that is present in Japan today. I am once again happy to be reminded that jazz is a music that scoops up the best musical talents and further evolves them. What is incorporated in this single album is a passion for continuing the most exciting performances in the current Japanese jazz scene. One can only hope that the collaboration between these rare members will continue to inspire each other's generation and continue to create chemical changes.
