Gerald's Spotless World" (1972) and "Passion Play" (1973) became #1 hits in the U.S., and the band gained worldwide popularity In 2014, Ian Anderson announced an indefinite hiatus, but the band resumed in 2017 In 2022, they released their first release in almost 18 years In 2022, the band released their first studio album in 18 years, followed by a new album in 2023.
