Description:

Chris Smither is a folk-blues singer-songwriter and songwriter who has a long history of success with his high sense of songwriting, as evidenced by top musicians such as Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris who have featured his songs, and his deep voice and excellent guitar technique. Chris Smither's 20th anniversary album! Produced by his old friend David Goodrich. Chris Cheek (saxophone), Zach Trojano (drums), and Betty Sue (chorus) provide a deep Americana sound. Chris Smither was born in Florida in 1944 and grew up in New Orleans. He began playing music in high school, and after graduation, he listened to Lightnin' Hopkins and Mississippi John Hurt and fell in love with folk and blues. She studied with guitar virtuoso Eric Von Schmidt and, on his advice, moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, near Boston, where she made her debut in 1970 with the classic album "I'm a Stranger, Too" (including "Love You Like a Man" featured by Bonnie Raitt). In 1971, he released "Don't It Drag On" with Maria Mulder, Eric Kaz, and others. After a 12-year hiatus due to alcohol addiction, he returned in 1984 with "It Ain't Easy," and since the 1990s, he has released consistently, has been respected by many artists including Emmylou Harris and Diana Krall, and is still based in and around the Boston area. He has also released consistently in recent years, including "Hundred Dollar Valentine" in 2012, "Call Me Lucky" in 2018, and "More From The Levy" in 2020.
