Based on the short story "The Monkey and the Cymbal" by Stephen King, the king of horror, "THE MONKEY" is produced by James Wan, who has produced numerous hits including the "Saw" series and "M3GAN", and directed and written by Osgood Perkins, who is considered the "new master of horror films" and is known for his "Long Legs", which received high praise in Japan. Osgood Perkins, the director and screenwriter of the highly acclaimed "Long Legs" in Japan, directed and adapted "THE MONKEY". When twin boys are given a mysterious toy monkey with a spring-loaded mechanism, their lives are turned upside down. When the twins are given a mysterious spring-loaded monkey toy, a series of "unintentional deaths" begin to occur in their surroundings. First their babysitter, then their mother, and soon after, even their uncle ....... The brothers thought the monkey was connected to these deaths and buried it in a dry well - or so they thought. Twenty-five years later, it happens again, and the brothers are convinced that the monkey has returned. The comical and pop images of this laugh-out-loud death, like a scream machine, and the playful music by Ed Van Breemen, which uses electronic instruments to great effect, are beautifully synchronized and heighten the realism of the film.
