Description:

Air Stairway's Katamari Mizukawa takes on her first starring role in a film, "The Man Who Failed to Die. The film depicts the strange fate of a man who, tired of his bleak life, attempts to jump off a station platform, but fails to die at the wrong moment. Original screenplay by Seiji Tanaka, director of "Melancholic," which won numerous film awards around the world. Co-starring a diverse cast including Bokuzo Shomana, Erika Karada, Yutaka Kiyatake of Golden Bomber, and former Nogizaka 46 member Miona Hori. The soundtrack by Moshimoss, an ambient and classical project by Yamanashi-based musician Kosuke Anamizu, who creates music for films and movies and designs sounds for artworks and spaces, has been released as a collection of works. When I heard a sample of Moshimoss' music, I had a gut feeling that he was the only person for this work. The film "The Man Who Failed to Die" is a comedy-drama at its base, but I wanted the film to always have the disturbing feeling that "it is never pleasant for a living person to develop a relationship with a dead person," even if the protagonist is laughing. I thought Moshimoss' music was perfect to create this atmosphere in a natural way. As a result, I am convinced that the decision to ask Moshimoss to compose the music was one of the best decisions I have made in the making of this film. The sadness, the pity, and the slight vibrancy of the protagonist as he walks away after a failed suicide, and the sense that his life is about to move on. The tension that flows when he follows the villain, and the signs of trouble. On the other hand, at the halfway point, when the story begins to take a big turn, the song dares to rock out in a bright and cheerful way, taking the protagonist to "a place from which there is no turning back" in one fell swoop. And the last part of the film closed with a moving tone that gave me hope to live positively even after accepting various sorrows and realities. I am sure that the soundtrack of "The Man Who Lost His Life" will be something I will always remember and listen to whenever I feel a little down in life, work, or anything else. -Seiji Tanaka, director of "The Man Who Failed to Die
