Formed in Brighton, England in 2015 while still in college, Squid is a five-piece band consisting of Ollie Judge (drums & lead vocals), Luis Boales (guitar & vocals), Arthur Redbetter (keyboards, strings, percussion), Rory Nancaivel (bass & brass), and Anton Pearson (guitar & vocals). The band was selected as a candidate for the BBC's Sound of 2020, which has produced top stars such as Adele, Sam Smith, and Haim, and their surprise signing to Warp was also a big hit.Produced by Dan Carey, the man behind the indie scene that has made Franz Ferdinand's breakthrough, recently discovered Black Midi and Fonteyns D.C., and is now creating a huge movement in the UK, this album is a work full of the band's unfathomable scale and ambition. The band's DIY experimental spirit is on full display, with field recordings of environmental and natural sounds, as well as the participation of Black Country New Road saxophonist Lewis Evans, who is at the center of the booming scene. The sound, with its tensions and relaxations, travels a winding and unpredictable path, combining the uncertainty of the world with a curiosity for exploration. Recorded in a kind of frenzy in the heat of summer in Carey's underground London studio, with the air conditioning turned off to avoid noise, the album shows the young band burning hot, playing music with intense energy and emotion. The Japanese CD includes a commentary, bilingual lyrics, and an additional bonus track. This product will be available for sale on Friday and will be released at the same time worldwide.
