From the beginning of the violin solo, Faust's high level of concentration and suppleness is captivating. In the second movement, Faust's delicate, yet beautiful core tone shines through in the melody of the high notes. In the third movement, Faust's energy and yet somehow dainty expression are in full bloom. Harding's skillful shaping of the music shines throughout the entire piece. Faust uses Busoni's cadenza, which is "expressive and full of awe of the work. Faust himself enthusiastically describes Busoni's cadenza as "expressive, full of reverence for the work, structurally simple but full of originality, and full of Brahmsian touches while at the same time showcasing the violinist's skill. The string sextet is a brilliant ensemble from its delicate opening.Performed by young Mahler Chamber players as well as members of different generations, including Christoph Richter, who studied with Navarre and Fournier, the concert will be filled with intimate and romantic masterpieces.
