It is the crystallization of the Soul Sugar project, which has resonated with and formed a diverse group of musicians over many years. There are other cover songs worth mentioning, but it is the originals by Metenier and others that definitely stand out on this album. A3, a Junior Murvin-esque song by Jolly Joseph with heartbreaking roots reggae-style lyrics*; B1, an intoxicating vocal song by Shniece that was released on HMV as a 7-inch on Record Day 2023 and caused a stir; and Patrick Byle's "Seven Dub," another Metenier project.
