"The Roaring Waves": A Dream Collaboration Between Progressive Rock Masters Steve Hackett and Steve Rosalie A dream collaboration between two of progressive rock’s greatest guitarists—former Genesis member Steve Hackett and Marillion’s Steve Rosalie—has come to fruition. The album is titled *TheRoaringWaves* (Japanese title: *The Roaring Waves*). Inspired by memory, imagination, and the natural power of the ocean, the album has turned out to be a striking work with a unique, profound charm. Although this project has been the subject of much buzz for many years, it is finally being released. The result of years of production, the album features seven instrumental tracks that blend cinematic grandeur with an intimate feel. Hackett explains, “It’s not the kind of album guitarists usually make together.” Composed and recorded intermittently over nearly a decade at Racket Club Studio and in each artist’s home studio, this album emerged from a spontaneous and improvisational process. Jams and the sharing of ideas formed the backbone of the songs, shaping a collaboration rooted in mutual sensitivity and respect. Throughout the album, the duo takes a painterly, almost cinematic approach to composition, meticulously crafting music that allows listeners to drift, imagine, and immerse themselves. Rosalie says, “We create an atmosphere… just like painting a picture. We take people on a journey.”
