Acoustic Electronica Trio = GoGo Penguin Live in Manchester "From the North - GoGo Penguin Live in Manchester," an analog recording of a live performance at the old Old Granada Studios, Manchester, June 2023, From the North - GoGo Penguin Live in Manchester" is an analog recording of the acoustic electronica trio GoGo Penguin's June 2023 studio show at the old Old Granada Studios in Manchester. Performed live were seven songs selected from two albums: the digital EP "Between Two Waves" (2022), released after new drummer John Scott joined the band, and the latest full-length album "Everything Is Going to Be OK" (2023). Gogo Penguin commented on the album as follows."When we were first approached to do a live session at the Old Granada Studios we jumped at the chance! Rumor around Manchester was that the studio was abandoned and was going to be torn down or replaced by something else entirely. We thought we would never set foot in this studio again. From the first time I stepped into the space, I immediately fell in love with it. Needless to say, the acoustics were amazing, and I thought the space had character and a fascinating history. The studio has changed little since it was built in 1962. According to local legend, the Beatles rehearsed in this very room before their debut TV show!" After Gogo Penguin released their 2020 self-titled album "Gogo Penguin" (BLUE NOTE), drummer Rob Turner left the band. With new member John Scott, the band will release a digital EP "Between Two Waves" completed with the Corona Disaster in July 2022 on the new Berlin-based label XXIM (read: Twenty One M) Records.Then, in April 2023, they released their first full-length album "Everything Is Going to Be OK" as the new Gogo Penguin. This album is a record of the band's continued progress toward new horizons, and it is also a record of Manchester's musical history as it continues to be passed down from generation to generation.
