A cat meme appears after a flood of horrific information, followed by a face that has lost its original shape due to processing. Under the weight of such reality, society is losing solidarity and quietly disintegrating. Jason Williamson Sleaford Mods, the voice of the working class, has released a new song, "Megaton," on the Rough Trade label, their first since their 2023 album "UK GRIM. The song combines a heavy beat and atmospheric electronic sounds with sharp lyrics that cut through the banality of society, creating a groove and intelligence unique to Sleaford Mods. In partnership with War Child, a charity with which they are continuing their partnership, all proceeds from the single will be donated to support children affected by war. Inspired by the song's worldview, a music video directed by artist/photographer Nick Waplington was also released. Filmed at Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park, London, the video features the song "Megaton" echoing through the crowd at a place known since the 19th century as a place for speeches and discussions. Clare Sanders-Wright, who oversees and manages War Child's live music projects, commented, "We are thrilled to be working with Sleaford Mods. We are truly grateful to Sleaford Mods for their continued support and generosity. This special limited-edition single is not just a new song, it delivers direct support to children suffering as a result of war." In addition to digital distribution, the 7-inch single, which includes "Give 'Em What They Want" on the B-side, will be available in limited quantities on blue vinyl and regular black vinyl.
