Omar Apollo's new album, "God Said No," his first in almost two years, is an exploration of the emotional wreckage left at the end of a passionate relationship. When he began work on the album, he decided that it would be poetry that would guide the atmospheric, guitar-based, funky melodies.In 2023, after touring with SZA and playing a co-headlining show with Daniel Caesar at Madison Square Garden, he decided to spend three months in London that fall, traveling back and forth along rain-soaked cobblestone streets, seeking inspiration from the poetry of Mary Oliver, Victoria Chang, He sought inspiration from the poetry of Mary Oliver, Victoria Chan, Ocean Von, and others.
