Croatian composer Zvonimir Nagy beautiful 21st century lyricism! Zvonimir Nagy, whose birth year is not listed in the booklet but whose photo suggests a relatively young generation, is a Croatian-born composer working in the United States as of 2018. After studying in his native Zagreb, he studied with Tristan Muraille, a master of the spectral school of music. His style is lyrical music based on tonal acoustics and beautiful harmonic intervals with overtones inherited from Muraille, with elements of what appears to be Croatian folk music added to the mix. Kaleidoscope I" is a melancholic and beautiful work in which the piano's subdued sound continues like drops of water, and gradually the accordion's sound expands like ink on paper. The "Epigram Variations" is a kind of paraphrase of Bach's Suite for Unaccompanied Cello. Kaleidoscope II, like Kaleidoscope I, is a slightly ambient piece with rain-dripping piano sounds that continue throughout.
