In 2011, he won the prestigious Dutch Music Prize (Nederlandse Muziekprijs), and made his solo debut on ONYX (ONYX4052), establishing himself as one of the Netherlands’ most promising baritones on the rise. In a program centered on the theme of “the sea” and featuring works by the French composers Fauré and Debussy, as well as Schubert—the “King of Art Songs”—Henk Neven’s rich and elegant voice brings to life the diverse hues and emotions associated with the sea and water.
